[Updated] Bill Johnson at WOWLife Church 2026

𝗜𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗮: 𝗔𝗻 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

On the launch of the Bill Johnson conference in Sri Lanka, the leadership of WOW Life Church began receiving communications from members of our global leadership community expressing concern regarding the timing of the conference scheduled for May. These concerns arose in light of the fragile and highly sensitive situation surrounding Bethel Church, which in recent months has been the subject of widespread public allegations and reports, including claims relating to fraudulent spiritual practices, systemic sexual misconduct, and leadership cover-ups. These developments have resulted in intense public attention and have created a challenging and delicate environment across parts of the global Church.

At the same time, WOW Life Church had the privilege of securing the necessary documentation from the Sri Lankan authorities to welcome Bill Johnson as a Christian apostle into the country. This is not a routine matter and is granted only under careful governmental review due to prevailing socio-religious sensitivities.

Senior leaders engaged in careful and prayerful discussion with apostolic leaders Georgian and Coco Banov, who presented this opportunity to the Church. It was agreed to host the conference as an act of honour and relationship, even though it did not form part of WOW Life Church’s primary focus or strategic vision for this particular season. The timing, though difficult, also represented an opportunity to demonstrate honour in a season of dishonour towards Bill Johnson.

As a forerunner in doctrinal reform and revelatory teaching, WOW Life Church understands firsthand what it means to be misunderstood, opposed, and at times persecuted within the wider Body of Christ. Much of this has centred on theological reform and doctrinal emphasis, particularly where long-held traditions have been re-examined.

WOW Life Church has reflected carefully on the current sensitivities affecting parts of the global Church. While WOW Life Church is not implicated in, nor governed by, the matters presently surrounding Bethel Church, we recognise that the wider environment is particularly delicate at this time.

Subsequently it was confirmed that Bill Johnson will not be speaking at the Inheritance Conference in Sri Lanka this May.

WOW Life Church remains clear in its own identity and mandate. Our theological distinctives and reform emphasis have, at times, drawn discussion and critique. However, those conversations are doctrinal in nature and do not concern questions of moral conduct or institutional integrity.

𝗪𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘆. WOWLIFE Leadership

There is one true God1 who is eternal, immortal and invisible2. He is the Uncreated One, Holy King, Creator, Saviour & Word3. He has revealed Himself as one being in 3 persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit4. The Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God. All proceeding word (rhema) is in context of the written word (logos). Mankind was made in the image of God5: spirit word in bodily form. Man’s unbelief in the goodness of God has condemned and separated him6 , therefore man fell from eternal life into death. (sickness, poverty, damnation…) God in his mercy sent forth his only begotten Son to be an atonement for mankind’s trespasses and reconciled mankind to the father through the finished work of the cross7. He did so by imputing righteousness as a free gift to those who believe and receive8. Therefore it has been commissioned that the good news through the word of God must be preached so that mankind through the process of “repentance” can receive the Word (Son) that is able to save their soul9. WOW Life church believes the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born immaculate10, anointed by the Holy Spirit to translate mankind from loss of dominion and authority to the King’s dominion and all authority11. We are saved by grace, through faith12 by the free gift of righteousness that is promised in the word through the finished works of the cross. The Holy Spirit has now been given to us to convict the world of sin, righteousness & judgement13. Holy Spirit is the helper, comforter, counsellor and the resurrection power that works within the sons of God14. Once a believer has received the Holy Spirit he is called to set his mind on the things of the Spirit15 so that he would not be walking in his flesh nature but being led by the Spirit and manifesting the Fruit of the Spirit16. A believer is known by the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace…) Once the Holy Spirit is within and upon a believer he is commissioned to go forth heal the sick, cast out demons, raise the dead and do greater works17. It is every believer’s mandate to disciple every tribe and tongue (nations) hence advancing the kingly dominion. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is poured out on believers that they might be sanctified and have power to be witnesses18. The Word of God clearly speaks of a heaven and a hell. Each person’s destiny in this regard is solely in the hands of a just and loving God who judges each man according to the Gospel19. As the Word is implanted in the children of God, they grow in the knowledge of the Son, in the unity of faith22 and are transformed into His image21. The body of Christ being transfigured from Death to life, embracing long & lasting life. The last enemy Death being conquered by the body and the church of Jesus Christ (bride) receiving the fullness of His Glory ready for the return of our Savior King20.

An Update

These developments have resulted in intense public attention and have created a challenging and delicate environment across parts of the global Church.

At the same time, WOW Life Church had the privilege of securing the necessary documentation from the Sri Lankan authorities to welcome Bill Johnson as a Christian apostle into the country. This is not a routine matter and is granted only under careful governmental review due to prevailing socio-religious sensitivities. Such approvals are rare and represent a significant level of administrative trust and responsibility extended toward WOW Life Church. The leadership engaged both spiritually and administratively with the relevant authorities, and it was understood that public credibility and perception would form part of the review process. In due course, the necessary approvals and clearances were formally granted.

It was agreed to host the conference as an act of honour and relationship, even though it did not form part of WOW Life Church’s primary focus or strategic vision for this particular season. The timing, though difficult, also represented an opportunity to demonstrate honour in a season of dishonour towards Bill Johnson.

WOW Life Church also reflected on its own journey as a reform movement. As forerunners in doctrinal reform and revelatory teaching, WOW Life Church has experienced seasons of persecution and has been regarded by some within the wider Body of Christ as controversial. This has been centred on theological reform and doctrinal emphasis, particularly where long-held traditions have been re-examined.

The leadership recognises that not all controversy is the same. There is a clear distinction between controversy arising from doctrinal reform and controversy arising from allegations related to leadership conduct or institutional governance. However, public perception does not always distinguish between these categories, and in sensitive seasons, separate matters can become conflated, creating additional strain and misunderstanding across the wider Body of Christ.

Therefore, discussions with ministry partners also highlighted the pressures currently facing Bethel Church, as well as concerns expressed to them by certain Sri Lankan mainline churches regarding WOW Life Church’s doctrinal differences. It became clear that this was a particularly sensitive period within the wider church environment. In light of this, Bethel Ministry has informed WOW Life Church that Bill Johnson will not be speaking at the Inheritance Conference in Sri Lanka.

WOW Life Church remains steadfast in its mandate as a reform movement, committed to integrity, accountability, and the advancement of the Gospel without compromise. The leadership remains confident in the vision entrusted to this ministry and continues to move forward with clarity and responsibility in this season.
